The Cottage Cure

A journey from house to home

Aaargh.

Posted by Susie on April 29, 2008

As it seems to be the week of “one step forward, two steps back”, I thought I’d share a little bit of the chaos round here:

Yup. That’s a shed. In my sitting room. Hopefully it won’t be there for too much longer as the tree surgeon is coming on Friday to give the tree which is in the way of its new home a haircut,  so we should be able to assemble it over the weekend.

Nevertheless, it does sum up how things feel around here. I’m struggling to keep control. I know what I’m meant to be doing (for example, that shed is part of a larger decluttering plan that should reap enormous dividends) but everything has descended into chaos.

Meep.

On the wardrobe therapy front, I’m so glad I am restricting myself to just the work-at-home wardrobe, but even that is proving to be a bit of a challenge. As predicted, all the ‘who do you think you are?’ and ‘what makes you feel beautiful?’ questions have got me running for the hills (which is probably why I’ve been silent for a while). But I’m plugging on with the practical things and am on target to unveil a complete work-at-home wardrobe by the end of this round.

Things always get worse before they get better, so I’d say you’re right on track.

It’s kind of you to have someone come and cut back your tree. We should have done it to a couple we have, but can’t ever seem to make it a financial priority, so I admire you for that.

    Deep breath.

I’m anxiously awaiting your work-at-home wardrobe reveal.

The tree should have had its haircut about ten years ago, really, so we haven’t been that kind. We’re also having two other trees chopped down (ashes which have self set and are trying to take over the universe), which probably counts as downright mean in the tree world. But, it does make me feel very grown up to be employing a specialist to do the job!

You never know when a shed in the sitting room will come in handy… All those organization shows on TV that suggest clever storage tips never suggest having a shed in the sitting room — they should get with the program!

Just remember that Chaos is a sign of great things to come. All will be well (after a bunch of work to make it so).

I’m looking forward to the Unveiling Of The Work-At-Home Wardrobe!

Hmm. You reckon I could start a trend, SCB? It’s worth a go. All those people with their little wicker baskets for sorting DVDs - ha! I trump them with my shed… Nope. Not convincing myself. ;-)
